CONGRATULATIONS Dr. RAÚL DÍAZ TORRES! GOOD JOB!
The PhD Researcher Raúl Díaz Torres from the FunNanoSurf group will defend his PhD thesis on Friday, 20 July at 11 am:
Title: “Synthesis, Characterization and Deposition on Surfaces of Curcuminoids-based Systems”
Date: Friday, 20 July 2018
Time: 11:00 am
Venue: Facultat de Química, Aula magna Enric Casassas, Universitat de Barcelona (UB)
Abstract: The main goal of this thesis rest on the design and synthesis of new CCMoids that can be applied in different areas of nanoscience. Thus, different modification on their structure were carried out in order to achieve interesting properties. The results of this work have been grouped in five different sections; corresponding each one to a different area: (1) Molecular magnetism: where systems which display single molecule magnet behavior were accomplished. (2) Molecular electronic: in this case the electronic transport of a new CCMoid system in a three terminal nanodevice were explored. (3) Molecular Sensor: this section is based on the immobilization of fluorescent CCMoids on surface and their used as chemical sensors for boron ions. (4) Molecular Host-Guest chemistry: based on the fabrication of supramolecular host-guest systems with ferrocene CCMoids as a guest inserted in different host cavities. (5) Molecular Donor/Acceptor chemistry: where the study of the donor/acceptor properties of CCMoids were performed with the idea of using them as components of organic photovoltaics cells (OPVs).
