Two new vacancies in the group

We are looking for two new group members to work in the framework of the ERC PoC project 

“Launch of a universal sublimation technology for molecular transfer on substrates (smolSUB)”. 

The project aims at the further development, and field validation, of a device for vacuum sublimation created by the group and protected by a Spanish Patent. For this, we are looking for a scientific assistant to help in the preparation of molecular compounds, their characterization, vacuum sublimation on the surfaces, and analysis of the obtained results to optimize the sublimation process parameters. As well, we are looking for a project manager/business developer who will follow the current PCT process, and help in the validation and adoption by promoting the technology to stakeholders and establishing economical partnerships.

Best Flash Talks Awards

The past week we attended the workshop on “Electrical and optical active molecular materials for bio-applications” (ACTIVE2022) organized by the Tuneable and Low-Cost Molecular Electronics (RL4) and Bioactive Materials for Therapy and Diagnosis (RL5) research lines from ICMAB, CSIC. During the event, Ph.D. researchers presenting their work participated in the contest for the Best Flash Talks that awarded Raquel Gimeno and Jorik Waeterschoot, a Ph.D. student and a visiting Ph.D. student from KU Leuven in our group, with the first and second prize. Congratulations guys!

A post doctoral position focused on the “(Bio)-funcionalization and assembly of particles for biomimetic membranes” is available in our group in the framework of the European project SynEry aimed at reproducing the key features of erythrocytes . Within the SynEry project, the main activity of our group will be the (bio)funcionalization of nanoparticles, the study and control of their assembly and disassembly.

Congratulations Dr Laura Rodriguez!

The past 22 October, our PhD candidate Laura Rodriguez successfully defended her PhD thesis titled “Synthesis and Characterization of Curcuminoids and their derived polymeric systems” supervised by Nuria Aliaga from the Funnanosurf and Concepción Dominguez Pascual from the Supercritical fluids and functional materials group. She brilliantly presented the work, and after a depth and inspiring question session animated by the PhD commitee formed by Maria Rosa Aguilar de Armas from the Instituto de Ciencia y Tecnología de Polímeros (ICTP-CSIC), Mónica Giménez Marqués from the Instituto de Ciencia Molecular (ICMol) and Silvia Gómez Coca from the Instituto de Química Teórica y Computacional (IQTC), she became a new doctor of our group and a new Icmab graduate. It was indeed among the first thesis defended in a hybrid format allowing both live and online participation after the pandemic. Congratulations Dr Laura Rodriguez and all our best wishes for your future, we will miss you!

The project titled: “Development of immobilized metal-organic assemblies for therapy and imaging” will be conducted under the supervision of Dr Arántzazu González-Campo. New JAE Intro SOMdM 2021 call for Master Student’s research internships

A new JAE Intro SOMdM 2021 call is now open for Research Fellowships for University Students at Severo Ochoa and María de Maeztu Research Centers. From ICMAB, the call is open to students who will course a Master during the academic year 2021-2022 and who are willing to begin working in the field of research in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biomedicine and related areas. The application will be open from 14 May to 15 June 2021.
