ICMAB, 8-9 May 2019: Organic and Molecular Electronics Meeting at ICMAB (ORGI2019)

The second Organic and Molecular Electronics Meeting at ICMAB (ORGI2019) will take place on 8-9 May 2019 at ICMAB. The workshop will bring together groups from ICMAB or nearby Institutions working on different aspects in the field of Molecular Electronics with the main aim of promoting scientific collaborations and synergies among researchers. Deadline for registration and short abstract submission is 8 April 2019.

ORGI 2019 is the second ICMAB workshop with the goal of sharing the last advances in the field of Organic and Molecular Electronics and fostering possible scientific collaborations among researchers from ICMAB and nearby groups.

Register before it’s too late! The dramatised reading “Madame Châtelet and her Instagram followers”, which recently received a Grant from FGCSIC, will open the Conference Cycle organized by Alumni UB “Dones de ciència retrobades en la història”. The dramatised reading will take place on Monday, 29 April at 6 pm at the “Sala Gabriel Oliver” (Facultat de Filologia, Edifici Històric UB). Entrace is free but registration is needed.

Terrassa held on 6-7 March 2019 the first edition of the “Women, Science and Technology” (WSciTech19) Conference (Congrés de Dones, Ciència i Tecnologia) and the “Châtelet team” at ICMAB presented their dramatised lecture “Madame Châtelet and her Instagram followers” as a tool to visibilize the wise women in the history of science.

Arántzazu González, researcher from the ICMAB-CSIC, went on 11 February to a Primary School (Can Maiol) to talk to the students and visibilize women scientists, within the initative “Nuestras científicas: Jornada de investigadoras actuales y futuras” of the CSIC-Catalunya. The initiative appeared on the TVE1 news programme “L’informatiu” at 2 pm on 11 February 2019. Look at it here, from minute 16:04!

The CSIC Delegation in Catalunya wants to contribute to the promotion of scientific vocations in young girls, and facilitate the contact between them and the scientists from the nearby research centers. For this reason, an educational action in the framework of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (11 February) is organized, consisting on school visits by some CSIC researchers, who will explain their research projects and their life as a scientist to primary school students.

By the end of 2017, eight researchers of the ICMAB had been granted with nine projects of the European Research Council (ERC). The ERC operates according to a “curiosity-driven”, or “bottom-up”, approach, allowing researchers to identify new opportunities in any field of research. Accordingly, the portfolio ERC funded projects spans a wide range of topics and research questions.
